In the on-going battle against COVID-19, we have had to cancel or postpone some of our most important fundraising events causing a huge shortfall in income.
These events enable us to provide vital emotional support to parents who have recently found out that their child has a life limiting illness or disability.
To do this we offer families bespoke counselling sessions and respite breaks completely free of charge. And whilst we can’t send families away at this current time and have had to sadly cancel some of the breaks we had planned we can offer therapy and counselling sessions. And believe me, this couldn’t have come at a better time for many families as they begin to feel more vulnerable and isolated than ever before having lost their support networks and respite.
We feel that now more than ever that the emotional support that Harry’s Pals offer will make such a difference to families already going through very difficult times. And we would hate to have to turn any families away due to a lack of funding.
So we’ve been looking at ways in which we can continue to raise funds whilst following government guidelines and came up with a few ideas… but please let us know if you have any other ideas to get us through this difficult time.
THE 5K or 10K CHALLENGE
The distance is set you just need to decide how you want to conquer it.. walk, run, dance, hop? All you need to do is log your progress through a fitness tracker and send us your results with a post challenge selfie and we will send you a medal.
It costs £20 to sign up and any additional fundraising is up to you.
Or there are plenty of other online challenges that you may like to consider, perhaps you would like to take part in a virtual walk across the UK, Europe, America, or what about resurrecting that clothes horse (I mean exercise bike) and setting a target of riding 10 miles per day?
The world is your virtual oyster – download an app and ask friends and family to sponsor you, it will make such a difference at a time when help is needed the most.
If you can spare as little as a few pounds per month it all really does add up and will make a big difference. You can help provide regular income that isn’t affected by events being cancelled.
Get a Hair Cut
With all barbers and hairdressers closed many of us are brandishing those scissors or razors and getting ready to have a new Covid Cut. But please before you do consider donating the money that you would have spent on having a professional trim. Also please post your pictures on our Facebook page with the #harryspalshaircut. The most drastic cut will win a prize!
You may have some even better ideas but please, please support Harry’s Pals, Share this page, invite your friends to like our Helping Harry Facebook page and help us to raise awareness of our work at Harry’s Pals.
Thank you so much for being a valued supporter of Harry’s Pals. We hope you are all safe and well at this strange time we find ourselves in.
